So after leaving Mr Bulldust we literally drove round the corner (a luxury, no long distances!) to Alligator Gorge where we made Hooters chug up some very steep gravelly roads! We got a good view once there over a gorge! We then drove through some really lovely little villages that were so tiny and had an english feel about them. We went to a place called Port Germain which had a really long pier and spent the night in a really noisy rest area on a verybusy road!! The next day we decided to head down to look at the Yorke Peninsula area, we had heard that there was a little town called Moonta that had a Cornish influence from the miners that moved there back in 18?? so we thought we'd go and have a look. There was a lot of fields on the way...we finally got to Moonta and it was a really charming little place, all the cafes claimed to do the best, most authentic Cornish Pastie. Well we had to see if it was authentic so we chose a cafe called Cornish Cafe (I think) and ordered to of the fatty things. We felt instantly homesick as we walked in, there were pics of Cornwall all over the wall with all these little pubs....ahhh. We must admit the pasties were quite tasty! The homesickness made us go on and on about what we missed about England and one of the things we thought about was the horrible weather..yes we actually missed it, only because we thought about being curled up on the sofa with the heating on and drinking a nice hot early gray though! We decided to park up for the night on a very remote grey windy beach at Waureltee....its as if the weather was listening to us that day as we were both really cold that night!
We woke up cold and drove towards Clare, which is famous for its vineyards, the whole area around it is called Clare Valley. Clare itself didnt impress us that much but the surrounding areas did. The scenery was gorgous, lovely vineyards, hills covered in little purple flowers and lots of cows! It really felt English as we were driving around, we had our jumpers on as it was a bit nippy. We came to this place just down the road from Clare called Auburn and it was a lovely little place, just like a little English village!! We spent the night in another little rest area next to some rather scary dogs wooof
We made our way to Adelaide the next day and managed to get a caravan park that was only 2kms away from the city centre. Its funny that Adelaide is a city because it just didnt feel like one it felt really relaxed. We were right next to a river and you could walk from the caravan park all along the river to the city centre. It was a lovely walk and really nice for Kam not to drive for a while. We were so cold we had to buy some jeans, we had a little wander around the Rundle Mall area before heading back to Hooters, we were so frozen that night!! We woke up frozen and walked back into the city centre again to get us warmed up! We had heard about 'Haighs Chocolate Factory' where you can taste chocs and buy reject chocs at discount prices.....we set off on a mission to find the place!! We marched about 4kms and found it, we walked in and our mouths started to water at chocolaty smells. Then we found out there were no testers, no room on the tour and the only reject chocs they had were manky passionfruit flavour!!! We felt like we had to at least get a bit of chocolate after walking all the way there so we bought a really expensive packet of choc buttons...they didnt taste too bad!! Anyway we wandered back and found central market, a massive indoor market that had everything you could imagine in and loads of really nice bread and cheese stalls....we just had to look at them! Then we walked into Chinatown which well was all things chinesey! We walked back through the city centre and back up the river to our Hooters and froze for the night again....there was something really nice about Adelaide, it was a really pleasant place and had a really good feel to it!
