Well christmas was over and the time had come to sell our beloved hooters...Jamie helped us design a poster to advertise him and we put some posters up around the manly hostels and also posted an advert on gumtree too. We were expecting it to take a few days before we got any response and were palnning to go into sydney and put up more posters round the hostels. That evening we all went to the cinema to watch enchanted which was really good, unfortunatley after the film Allie had a phone call from her sister saying that her nephew was in quite a bad way, as soon as we got back she managed to change her flights to return home the next day. The next day we all went out for lunch in Manly and Allie went off to the airport after, it was very sad to see her go!!!
We recived loads of texts and emails about Hooters, most people wanted us to drive into Sydney to show him to them but one couple said they were coming over to manly in a few hours and wanted to have a look at him, so we rushed around tarting hooters up. They gave him a test drive and seemed really interested, we had more phonecalls about hooters while they were looking at him. They said they would get back to us, in the meantime me, kam , jamie and rachel went kayacking round manly to quarantine bay the weather was glorious and manly is just so grogous!! In the evening we were just deciding what to do when the couple from earlier phoned back and told us they were interested in buying hooters for the full asking price!! we were over the moon as this meant we had got double what we paid for him in perth....PROFIT!!! we celebrated with a few beers and a pizza !!
the next day amy, peter and caleb came over to manly and we had lunch and went for a walk on the beach with them, on the sunday we went to church and afterwartds we went into sydney and did some sightseeing, we went and wal;ked round the opera house and looked at the harbour bridge. It was lovely weather again and we really loved the buildings in sydney and the whole feel of the city!! We got the ferry back to manly and really enjoyed the trip through the harbour.
On new years eve we had quite a busy day, hooters was being collected from us at lunchtime so we had to make sure we had got everything out of him and he was all clean for his new parents!! we were very very sad when they came but sort of cheered up when we saw the wad of cash! We waved hooters off and did feel slightly tearful as he'd been such a good van to us and he had been our house for the last 5 months :-( we then had to get the ferry over to sydney so we could try and get aspot to watch the firweworlks. it was only about 3.30pm but already everywhere was packed, we wnet and found a place by circular quay and just sat among hundreds of people waiting and waiting!! we had quite a good view of the harbour bridge and the opera house, all was perfect until the port a loos near us started to leak everywhere...we had to move soimewhere else and sit for another 6 hours. There was an eggtimer on the bridge counting dowm to midnight. There was one firework display at 9pm which was quite good, as it appraoched 12 more and more people squashed in. At 12 the fireworks started and they were absolutley amazing!! coming out of the bridge and the skyscrapers all in synchronisation. It went on for nearly 15 mins and the grand finale on the bridge was just breathtaking!! It was well worth waiting for!
On new years day jamie and merve cooked a really yummy american breakfast and in the afternoonm we all went down to manly beach but it was closed for swimming because the waves were so rough, so we walked round to shelly beach which was a lovely little beach and went and walked up to the veiw point and had a swim it was really lovely!
On our last proper day we went into sydney for one last time and went for a walk to mrs maquaries chair where we got a great view over the bridge and the opera house and then went for a walk in the rocks area. In the vening we wnet for dinner with jamie and merve to a place called rump and ribs which was very nice!!
So that was our australian adventure over, we finished it in the best way with our friends at sydney, it really made our ozzie adventure end on a high. We absolutley loved our time in Oz and felt so at home all the way round, its such a great counrty and we have to return ...thats a definate!!!
Next country to explore New Zealand!!! PS sorry about the speliing this keybours is evil !!!
