Our trip is over!!!
We arrived in Hervey Bay and checked into our hostel. That evening we had our breifing, explaing about the cars, rules of the island, an itenary they suggest you follow and what to do when you see Dingoes.
We had to get up early on Wednesday as we left at 8.00 in the morning. We gad to catch a ferry across to the Island. We were with 8 other people, 3 Danish, 3 Norweigen and 1 guy from the UK. When we arrived on the island we drove across the island to the East beach.
We drove up the beach seeing the ship wreck and to Indian Heads. We then walked to the Champagne Pools, the only safe sea water to swim in, theres Tiger Sharks in the sea. We then had to drive to our campsite as you can only drive on the beach between certain times because of the tides. When we got there, there was thousands of Marsh flies (huge and horrible) so we had to cover ourselves in Insect Reppellant. There was lots of Dingoes around the campsite but they dont bother you, they just want your rubbish.
We woke early, I was awake at 5.30. And drove to the showers on a proper campsite and we had to stay here for 5 hours as we could not drive on the beach because of high tide. We then saw the Pinnacles and went to Eli Creek, which we walked up then sailed down on our stomachs until i saw an eel. We then went Lake Wabby where you can run down a huge sand hill and land in the lake. Steve went down the hill on a boogie board. We then had a drive to the camp by this time it had started pouring with rain and it didnt stop all night. We slept in the van whilst others braved the rain and slept in the tents.
Today we went to Central Station for breakfast and then on to a Lake which was meant to be red, but was more brown. We then went to Lake Makenzie which was beutiful. The water was so blue and clear. Swam here for ages and enjoyed the sun when it came out. Then we had to catch the ferry. Just need to get rid of the sand that is everywhere.
