Today we have arrived in Darwin after three days of driving. We left Cairns on Sunday and drove for 9 hours and 860 kms. We stopped at a small village in the middle of nowhere. It was so hot, even the wind was hot, we have been used to the breeze off the sea. We set off again in the morning and drove for another 11 hours, covering 1957 kms. We stopped at Tennants Creek in the middle of the desert. We decided to stay in a hostel after neither of us slept the night before in the car. Today we have been driving for 10 hours and arrived in Darwin at 6.00 this evening. The drive was very long and very boring. The roads are straight and go on and on for hours without seeing another car. We saw alot of raod trains with about four trailers on the back, they are huge and whizz past. The landscape was dusty with trees and termite mounds. It was very red in the middle and got greener the closer we got the to Darwin. We are selling the car here, so this was our last trip in Vern, a very sad occasion. Well Done Vern for driving 2900 kms in 3 days.
