Our trip is over!!!
We have been in Darwin for 9 days now and we are getting very bored. There is not much to do here. We are happy because the day after we put posters up advertising the car for sale we sold it and we made $100 on what we paid for it. We sold it to a man who lives in Darwin.
We visited the Museum of the Northern Territory, which was interesting, there was alot about the war and Cyclone Tracey. We have spent alot of time walking around the town and to the harbour. There isnt really anything else to do here unless you have a car to drive to it.
On Saturday we were on Cyclone watch because Cyclone Ingrid was travelling towards Darwin, by the evening we were on Cyclone warning as it was less than 24 hours away. We woke up on Sunday and the hostel was preparing for the cyclone, packing everything away and we were all informed that if the cyclone hit we were all to evacuate to the cyclone shelter, which was across the road. We sorted all our stuff out so we were ready to go if we needed to. This was quite exciting until we spent all day waiting for the cyclone to come. In the evening we heard on the radio that we were only going to get strong winds about 120 km as the cyclone would pass above us. In the end it was a little bit windy but not too bad, all that waiting for nothing.
We have spent the week so far walking around Darwin, going to the cinema, swimming and sunbathing when its not raining and playing cards. I am the master at s*** Head!!
Looking forward to my birthday on Monday, we have booked into a 4 star hotel for the night and its got a BATH.
We are here til next Thursday when we leave on our tour to Alice Springs.
