Our trip is over!!!
We have found some more thinks to do whilst we are in Darwin. On Friday we visited the World War 2 oil tunnels. these were built during the war to store the oil in to stop the Japanese from bombing and destroying it. They were never used. The tunnels were interesting, very big and well built considering it was all done by hand.
On Saturday we hired a car and went to the Crocodile jumping at Adelaide River Crossing. It was really good. We were in a boat with 10 other people and we drove up the river looking for crocodiles. When we spotted one, we would stop, put some meat on a fishing rod and dip it in the water until the croc came over. The croc would then jump in the air to get the meat and eat it. We saw lots of crocodiles on the banks and a huge croc about 4 metres long, he was trying to eat the boat and was jumping up the sides to get the meat. We than visited Howard Springs Nature Reserve, just outside Darwin. We saw lots of turtles, barramundi and other fish. There were lots of lizards running around. On the way back to the main road i saw my first wild kangaroo. We found a water park on our drive into town so stopped for lunch and went swimming to cool down. We visited Fannie Bay Goal which was interesting, but scary, I wouldnt like to have been in that prison. there was a real place where you can hang people aswell. Steve tried shutting me in one on the cells but i was out the door quick fast. We also visited Lake Alexander. We certainly made the most out of the car, we have missed not having a car. This was the most we have done in Darwin inthe last 1 1/2 weeks.
