Up at 05:30 meet our Truck and our new Travelling "Family" at 06:30.

Our new family consisted of - 2 Brits(us), 3 Aussies, 3 Danes, 2 Polish Canadians,1 Dutch, 1 German Plus 3 crew - 2 Zimbabweans and 1 South African (Afrikaans) ……. Not forgetting a truck called "Sledge"

Mostly the "Family" were in their fifties, the exceptions being The Danes who were 19,20 and 21 ….. They must have been horrified to find they were travelling with the "cast of Cocoon".

It turns out they were too young to even understand the reference.

A brief stop at Blouberg Beach to look back and take a final photo of Capetown and Table Mountain, then we were headed for the Orange river and the Namibian border.

En-route, we stopped for wine-tasting in the shadow of Swartberg mountain, beautiful scenery and the first opportunity to assess who our drinking companions might be - It turns out that our first night was spent with Bep (the Dutch lady) and surprisingly the 3 young Danish Lads. Disappointing start to the second day the canoeing was called off because the accommodation only had two serviceable canoes …… We finished the day off with some heavy drinking with Bep, the Danish Boys(Edy, Christian and Gustav) and also Valdek and Bozanna (a Polish/Canadian couple) …… A pattern was developing and our team was growing. The next few days were spent driving through the Desert, stopping to view scenic highlights, like the Fish River Canyon (second largest in the world after Grand Canyon)
