A fair few people went out after getting back from Machu Picchu so we had a pretty easy day, went out to breakfast at Real McCoys which is an English restaurant that does amazing breakfasts. I ordered the pancakes and as you can see in the picture they were absolutely massive!!! So delicious too!
Caught up on all the gossip from the previous night then as much as we really wanted to bail on the days plans and head to back to bed to catch up on the last few nights lack of sleep, we reluctantly went to the Inca museum. It's a 2.5hr guided tour or you can do it by yourself, we opted no guide so we could do it faster. It was hysterical with Rob and us girls just laughing and joking the whole time and making up our own version of the tour. Every 5mins Rob would tell us he wanted a chocolate milkshake and we had to bribe him to do the museum then we could go have a milkshake at the Fallen Angel, a funky restaurant with crazy decor like bathtubs used as fish tanks with glass on top for a table (see the picture). Unfortunately when we got there they didn't do milkshakes so we went to Jacks, another cool restaurant that lots of westerners hang out at. We all got milkshakes and I kid you not it was the best milkshake I've ever had!!! It was just like a blended paddle pop!!!
Totally worth the wait and finally rob was quiet!
The girls wanted a massage to soothe their muscles after the trek and there is plenty of places in Cuzco. We bartered with this lady in the street for pedicures for $6 for Rob & Jessie-Mae, $6 for a facial for me and $16 for an hour massage and pedicure for Laura!!! Bargain. It was a tiny room with only two people working and they did the pedicures while they sat on a couch. We just giggled the whole time and they were laughing at us because Rob was calling us Señor.
We headed back to the hostel and started pre-drinks before Lou, one of the girls on the other trucks hens party.
Drinks at the hostel then salsa dancing then clubbing! It was a lot of fun. We even had our faces painted at Mama Africa's. Luke and I were walking down Gringo alley on our way to the next pub and he needed smokes so I bartered in my best drunken Spanish then we went to pay and he had no money on him as Alex had his wallet and I realized I'd been pick pocketed :( my purse was still in my bag but it was open and empty. It was only a little purse that sat at the front of my body but as the club was packed I guess I just didn't notice. Luckily I took out most of my money and cards out of my purse before going out so it could've been a lot worse than loosing approx $40. So after all that bartering we couldn't get the smokes!
We went to the next club called Temple, it was seedy as, bartenders dressed as clowns and walking around pouring shots down your throat. Music was bad and I wasn't in the best mood after realizing I'd been pick pocketed so I went home.
The next day I felt like absolute death and all I wanted was a drink of water but do you think I could open the water bottle?!?!? I sat there for almost an hour trying to open it or find Jessie-Maes water. I heard Christian walk past our room so I tapped on the window and pointed at my water bottle. I couldn't open the window so I went to the next one and eventually he opened the bottle! My savior as I was about to drink the tap water soon!
Jessie-Mae and I finally got up and headed out for breakfast but is had a blister on the bottom of my foot for days and after dancing on it all night it was tortuous so we just went back to real McCoys as it was close by. After a massive breakfast we went back to the hostel so Jessie-Mae could drain the blister and put a dressing on it.
We were meant to go to the chocolate museum but I was way too hungover so I went back to bed while the others went out.
We watched batman returns in Spanish in the common room with Claire doing running commentary so we knew what was happening, then headed out for dinner. Was such a good dinner at a little restaurant on Gringo Alley. For $6 I got garlic bread, tomato soup, enchilada, a coke and a pisco sour!!
When we got back Laura, Jessie-Mae and I climbed into bed and watched movies.
Tomorrow we head to Puno so another long bus day.
