Got up and had a shower. Becks feeling hungover so I leave her and go for a wander around New Orleans on my own. I wander up to Canal st. and get a street car, which is 1 of only 2 moving national monuments in the US. I get off at the river front and head towards the French quarter and have a quick look at the street art before stopping for a Bignent at the famous Cafe du Monde, where there's a street band playing out the front. It's pretty cool. The weather is nice too, not at all humid like I thought. I met Shane at the cafe so he had some Bignents and I had a coffee and then I bought a CD from the steet band and we got a taxi back to Hotel le Cirque to get ready for the airboats this avvo. We get the bus to the Airboats. Once there we see their crazy albino alligator, which looks like it's made of porcelain. We head out into the bayou on the airboats, it's an amazing experience and probably my favourite on the whole trip. The scenery, the wild life it's all awe inspiring. We get to hold a baby croc and our driver Cap'n Monkey is a character to say the least. After the boats it's home to get changed and out for the night. We head out for sea food dinner to Deanies a place Matt saw on "Man vs Food"! I have some Soft shell crabs deep fried, shell and all! So we head to Frenchman st. Which is the more "authentic" night life of N'orleans. We go to one place where I step on a cockroach in the rest room. But the beers cheap and the bands good so we stay for a while. Beck goes down the road with Rebecca while she gets a tattoo. We head to the Spotted Cat, which is class. They have an amazing band on singing a more contemporary version of 1950's music and the girls voice is amazing. Her face tattoos are a little wierd tho (Meschiya Lake) . I buy their CD. A bit of 2 stepping later and we move onto the Apple Barrel a small dive bar with more people in the band that's playing than in the bar, and with thier "Bi-sexual" toilet the place certainly has some charm! The Jazz band playing are really good so we stay until 1am at which point Beck (who wasn't drinking) has had enough do we head home. Fantastic day.
