Next morning we said farewell to Walter and Bridgette and it was onto KL, our first big city for a while, with Gav praying for cheap footwear and Chris praying for cheap food!! 5 and a half hours later we arrived at Kuala Lumpar and found it quite a struggle with it being our first busy city for a while after being on so many remote islands. Gav and Chris soon adjusted to it as we walked past Starbucks and McDonalds respectively, as caffeine and Big Mac withdrawal symptoms were starting to hit us hard. We decided to stay in China Town which was quite central to most things and being the experienced trekkers we now are we didn’t mind a walk from the bus terminal. We set our stuff down at the new accommodation and went on a walk around the city to visit the KL Tower initially with the intention of just going up to the observation. However, as we walked in they were advertising zip lining from the side of the tower, and after swimming with sharks / jumping from cliffs we thought this was no challenge so went for it - as seen in pics! After that we took a lift to the top of the tower to get an amazing panoramic view of the city from its highest point. Quite wonderful! That night we went for a walk to a busy night club area that was right next to the Petronas Twin Towers, which Gav later found out from the blisters on his feet due to his newly purchased shoes was in fact a painful 30 minute walk away! We sunk a few jugs of Tiger and sampled a quite lethal mix of Sambuca, Baileys, Gin and Khulua from a 2 foot glass that was set alight! Needless to say we now have no eyebrows and that was the end of our night from what we both remember! The next day we planned on sightseeing a bit more of the city - unfortunately arriving late on Sunday meant we couldn’t get tickets for the Twin Towers and on Mondays they are inaccessible (boo!) - so we went for a wander instead to see other tourist attractions. We first went to the biggest shopping mall in KL, which was 10 storeys high, with a theme park in the middle - the place was huge! After looking around the shops we got the uncontrollable urge to have a little look around the smaller, cheaper malls to buy even more useless sh*t to fill our already over packed bags!In the evening we then went to the China Town Night Market where fake goods were in abundance and even cheaper than Bangkok - at time of going to press Gav currently has 9 pairs of footwear ranging from mandals, trainers, shoes and hiking boots!Next off to the Tioman Islands off the east coast of Malaysia for some relaxation time before hitting Singapore............
