Tori's Travels
We headed out to Kaitaia. On the way, we stopped and looked at different kauri trees. The first was at Trounsen Reserve. We went walking on the boardwalk and there were different signs to tell what the different plants were. The kauri trees had 'hanging gardens' on them and they looked like hairy armpits!
At the next stop, we ate lunch by four kauri trees called "the Four Sisters". Then we walked to the second largest kauri tree in New Zealand called Matua Nagahere (Father of the Forest). Our last kauri tree stop was the biggest kauri in New Zealand called Tane Mahuta (god of the forest). Then we took a little ferry across Hokianga harbour and we drove the rest of the way to Kaitaia.
