Today we did our 3 hour Sorrento Cooking Class. We learnt how to make Gnocchi and a puff pastry from scratch. In the course was a lady from Bundy, a Scotsman, a mother and her 2 daughters from Manchester, a couple from New Jersey and 3 other Americans. The couple from New Jersey have given us their number so we can call them and they can give us a tour around Manhattan when we get there at the end of December.
Our chef was an Italian lady named Rosario and she had an English interpreter who was very entertaining. Her name was Sarah and she is British born but moved her with her now ex-husband years ago and learnt Italian from the TV (which is easy to believe because there are no English speaking television shows here - we watched a bit of Beethoven last night and Scrubs all dubbed over in Italian).
At the end of the class we got to eat all that we had cooked plus a beautiful fish dish and tirmasu for dessert which we made as a group. The food, company and class were all fantastic. Would recommend to anyone coming to Sorrento to take part in the class.
Tonight we headed into the main town of Sorrento for a little bit of looking around, shopping and eating. We found a lovely little restaurant down a back alley which served the most beautiful food.
