One last night in Slovakia, Pension Flipper. We were told breakfast was at 7.00am!! We managed to agree on 7.30 but no later, then we had to choose our breakfast just after checking in (including tea, coffee and how many sugars!) Donna wasn't happy with her dinner (chewy pork chunks) so she tucked into mine. We also ordered what we thought was wine to find out it was alcohol free something! Fortunately Donna did get a glass of wine in the end. So we had our early breakfast and Donna wasn't happy again - scrambled eggs with more onion than eggs (and lots of cucumber on the side). The owners locked up and left at 8.00am so we were on the road at 8.10 and it was bloody freezing despite the sunshine and blue skies. Then we rode into freezing fog and it just got colder. Very pretty ride though. We rolled into Hungary without showing our passports, apart from hotels we haven't needed our passports since Dover. We went to the bank and withdrew 150,000 Hungarian Florints!! Next shop was the co-op, Donna caused uproar trying to spend a couple of quid with a 10,000 note (£30), The checkout girl ranted in a south park voice relentlessly so Donna just smiled and waited. Everyone else got served whilst someone went down the road looking for change for a 10,000 note. Apologies to Baggies, Wolves and Walsall fans but we checked into Villa Park. Their restaurant was closed due to technical issues but they informed us there was 7 or 10 restaurants in town! There was actually more like 20 restaurants but most were shut as it was Monday! We did eventually get fed and didn't go hungry in Hungary. Great breakfast at Villa Park but they don't allow coffee with breakfast just tea! The ride from Villa park, weather dull, route dull, scenery dull. Most towns we pass through each house has a gated garden with a dog or two, all of which love to bark at tandems. Every breed known to man has barked at us except for a Staffordshire Bull Terrier which we haven't seen or heard yet. Lorries too close today, bailed out onto minor roads but the road surfaces are shocking. So many cobbles and bad roads the last few weeks, our rear wheel is badly buckled. One minor road went into an army base, we were met by a man with a gun who directed us onto a track. Had to walk and had to cross a railway line. Donna stopped for a wee whilst i tried to lift a loaded Titty over the train tracks, i got the front wheel over the first rail and was then stuck!! Fortunatley Donna came to the rescue before a train appeared. Eventually arrived at our hotel that didn't seem to know we had booked and then we found out that they lock the hotel in the evening, go home and come back at 10.00am - Breakfast is not served!!! The only place they have to store Titty is locked until 10.00 am (and alarmed). After enjoying a great pizza the chef said he would be at the hotel at 8.30am so we could be on our way (after no breakfast), he then told us he used to work in Holland where the marajuana and cocaine were great! Let's hope we aren't still waiting at 10.00am for him to arrive.
