One blog - two new photo albums and one video! So whilst we are awaiting a new wheel to arrive from England we have 5 days to rest & be tourists. We decided to buy a 3 day tourist bus ticket. We did both tourist bus routes, we hopped on and we hopped off, we saw all the major sites, we did the evening bus tour, a day boat cruise and an evening cruise (when Budapest looks spectacular illuminated). We also had several free beers and tried goulash soup. Budapest has a lot to offer, what a great city. Instead of paying to use the spa at our digs we went the famous Gellert thermal baths. Warm bathing great, but those saunas and steam rooms are just torture chambers! At least when I'm sweating to death cycling up some monster climb on a hot day I get a decent view. We found 'The British Store' and splashed out on a box of sage & onion stuffing so Donna could cook a roast dinner. So now we are hoping our new wheel arrives today otherwise we have to try and book another night. Recollections from previous - Olomouc, Czech republic, on our day off here our last port if call was the Archbishops palace. We found it but it looked shut, I tried the doors and managed to get into the ticket office 'is it open' I asked only to hear a woman from Stourbridge say it was closed due to an official engagement and she had travelled by train for 2 hours to visit and wasn't best pleased. She had lodged a complaint and the result was that the three of us got a free guided tour (there is normally a charge). Our guide was amazed that we had cycled there from England and the woman from Stourbridge couldn't believe that i am a member of Stourbridge Cycling Club - it's a small world (except for when we are pedalling).
