We started the morning with a nice walk around the Redwood Forest in Taupo. These trees are huge, with their thick red straight trunks and no branches until the top, where the forest is covered by a canopy of all there leaves.
We then drove to the Hooker falls, which is nicknamed after Hooker apparently killed her boyfriend in an argument, put him in the boot of her car and drove to the bridge on these falls and threw his body over. I don't think it was ever found. These falls are immense the waves are crazy and fierce. There's not too much of a drop but the volume of water passing a second is really high, and the noise of the water rushing and landing is really loud.
At the falls we were picked up by a limousine and driven to the sky dive base site. We got kitted up and met our dive buddies and hopped into the tiny pink plane! I wasn't nervous at all, until I was told I was the first to jump and my buddy moved me to the door and dangled me over the edge :-S When he threw us out of the plane I screamed like a baby!!!! You have to tumble out which was so disorientating, but as soon as we got into the correct position it was fantastic :-D it didn't feel like we were falling. Apparently over 2000ft your brain cannot perceive and judge the distance to the ground so it felt like I was floating :-D such an amazing feeling. When we put the parachute out and was slowly cruising down he let me drive :) and I was spinning us around in circles. The view over Taupo Lake was very impressive and we managed to land on our feet :D Wahh it was such a Buzz!! If someone paid for me to it, I'd do it everyday :-P
