June 25: Day 51:
Today Cam and I woke up wanting to play rugby with each other. Lil and Stu also wanted to play as well so it was Stu and I taking on Cam and Lily. There were a few fights at the start but then it worked out. Well that was until Lily and Cam had a punch up. Without anyone knowing Cam and I played a game by ourselves and it turned out by me winning 8-5, ( going up by one). It was just after this when Mum and Dad were going to take us to 4 different places in town. The first one was the info centre which was where mum booked a cruise on Lake Argyle which seemed to take a while. The next thing was only a walk down the road and was a Diamond shop. These diamonds were coming from the Argyle Mine, this Mine also produces a full champagne glass worth of pink diamonds. This really interested Cam and I. Dad then drove us to a place called the Sandalwood centre. This substance is a wood that comes from a Sandalwood tree. The reason this stuff is so important is because the oil that can be extracted from the wood can help eczema and is used in perfumes. The tree that produces this oil needs to be taken care of for 15 years before they can be harvested. There was a playground here that we played on for a while. Our third and final destination for the day was called the Zebra Stone gallery. This stone can only be found in the Zebra rock mine which runs underneath Lake Argyle. We were in the gallery for not to long because the lady had mentioned that they had a workshop up the back. It wasn’t far from the gallery and was where a man was carving and rounding out stones that had been found in the mine. He told us quite a few interesting things about the two stones they find in their Mine. The first stone is the Zebra Stone and the second is called the Ribbon Stone. These two rocks are found placed in front and behind each other because they have been stuck together. But scientist find this strange because the Zebra Stone is only 600 million years old and the ribbon stone is 1.6 billion years old! Theory’s have been made though. Other rocks that used to be mud millions of years ago have been found in that mine and have either green specks on them or reddish orange ones. Scientists believe this is because the green is petrified algae and the red and orange is acid rain that comes from after a volcanic eruption. We then went back to the gallery to ask to see a rock called the 1135. The reason for this was because the man in the workshop found a acid rain rock that had made a 1135 on itself. It looked pretty cool and was also a bit creepy. After that incredible rock mum let us buy a Zebra Rock, so Cam, Stu and I bought a stone and lol bought a necklace. That was the end of our tourism day and came back home for an extremely lazy afternoon.
