June 16: Day 42:
Yesterday our campground caretaker, Matt said there was three spots left for today’s fishing charter, so Dad took it just like that. It started at 12:30, so we had to wait a while but in the meantime I chopped up some wood for our fire. That took most of the morning and 12:30 came we hopped into the car and set off for Honeymoon bay. Here was only 7 kilometres down the road from the McGowans campground. The drive didn’t take long and we arrived waiting for half an hour for our guides. I’ve never been fishing before now but I was excited still. Les and Jeff ( our tour guides ) pulled in the boat we were going on and we set off into the bay. Dad because he was at the back was told to trail the fishing line behind the boat for bait. We got nothing so we pulled up on the nearest sandy beach and cast out a fishing net. This wasn’t a kind of put it in the deep and pull out a lot of fish. It was a come to shore throw out a net for 3 seconds and pull it back in. Jeff who was one of our guides was doing this and caught about four every time. So we had plenty of bait and set off to start FISHING. At our first fishing stop Cam and I both caught 3 fish each, they were all red snappers but I got a humongous cod. So after we had caught all the fish there we moved but this spot wasn’t any good. So when we arrived at our third and final spot we threw out some blood. This was when all of the fish started to come. Our boat caught four sharks all together and there was one annoying fish that was too small to catch and kept on grabbing our lines. The sun was starting to go down so we went back to the bay and Les and Jeff gutted and cut our fish. We took 9 fillets the other two people on our boat took 4 and we offered Les and Jeff the rest. We drove home in the going down sunlight and got back home to have a yummy dinner.
