June 22: June 48:
Today mum had planned a long walk for today and is going to be our longest one yet but first something else was in store for us. This morning we are going to our very first hot springs, not only this was cool but also stuff that was along our walk. There were trees that can only be found here at the Zebedee Springs, the Livistona Palms. These green leaved palms make you feel like your on a walk through a forest. A fact on these palms is to tell how old they are you have to count the rings going around them and then divide that number by four. We arrived at the hot springs to find that the walls of rock surrounding these springs are 1300 million years old. Our swimmers were already on so we hopped into the water to find that it felt like someone had changed the temperature of the earth. There was a sign that told you the water came out of a crack in the earth which was quite deep which meant the water was being heated. It also said that the temperature of the water stays 28 - 32 degrees Celsius all year round. We got out and went off to go see something that people had warned us about and could have stopped us doing our long walk. It was a deep water crossing that went for 50 odd metres and led to the El Questro Gorge. We got there to find 4 land cruisers that had stopped and not crossed the crossing, this is what made mum and dad nervous. But lucky for us 2 ute’s came to answer our question, and the first one the man actually got out and walked half of it. He thought it was safe so he went through the crossing and then a jacked up Hilux came past and went through it at 40 kilometres an hour. We only went there to check it out so we went back to our campsite to get ready for our 6.8 km, challenging level walk. The time we left was 11:30 and we thought this was going to be a fine time to have left. We went through the crossing without letting any water in and arrived with our legs pumped and ready for a good, long walk. The start of the walk was pretty easy and it only took us 45 minutes - an hour to get to the halfway pool, but the second half wasn’t that easy.
