Nice day in PSJ as little 'Prince' (a local guy) took us out for a walk to see 'Second Beach' and a 'blowhole'. The air at this blowhole was so powerful it almost knocked us over as we stood over it but we didn't get to see the water come out!
We sat and admired the giant waves crashing into the rocks and learned of how sharks have recently killed a couple of people in the area before seeing sopme gravestones of people who have died at the dangerous site. All very depressing! Haha....
To get to these places we had to hike up and down these hills which were steep and with the gale-force winds against us it proved to be quite a task! At one point we had to hole on to a ladder and a metal chain just so we didn't fall to a grizzly death!
The guy took us to the jungle area where there was a tiny house of which some little weirdo hippy has been living since he arrived in PSJ. The view over the Second Beach was a spectacle and as most of the beaches in this part of the world, it was beautiful.
After our short hike, we paid him off a couple of quid following a hitchhike back to Jungle Monkey backpackers. The girls had waited before catching a shuttle costing twice the amount what me, Jack and Mike paid to get to our next destination (Coffee Bay).
However, we thought we had done well only to find the guy forgot to charge them!
Looking back on Jungle Monkeys, it was probably one of my favourite backpackers yet. Despite its not-so-nice dorms and bathrooms, the party atmosphere, food, people playing music, swimming pool, pool table, all made it an ideal place to hang out. Shame I was only there one night.
Our bus journeys today were pretty funny as Jack (who shotguns everything), got lumbered with the bags in the back of the bus whilst me and Mike got frontseats! I was a bit cream-crackered and Mike had to prop me up a couple of times as I kept tilting onto the driver!
At Coffee Bay, it was far from what I expected. There were lots of people in the 'Coffee Shack', but it was an odd location, kind of off the beach, on a hill and you had to cross a river at certain times of the day to get to it!
High on the hill we had some drinks and an awesome pizza (spinach, feta, chicken and mince!) whilst watching England open the Six Nations with a win over Wales! Gave Jack plenty of abuse as he loves Wales (though he will insist he doesnt!).
Back at the Shack after, got chatting to plenty of travellers from Wales, Bedford, Jo-burg and Christchurch, and enjoyed yet more beverages and pool!
