Day three - up to Da Lat
Da Lat is a funny place, and very likeable. This was where the colonial french used to have their summer holidays because it was colder here. That's solely down to the altitude, but it allowed my heat battered body to recover a bit while wearing jeans and a long sleeved top!!!! I can't tell you what a joy that was.
Plus, my room mate Tristan, a chinese-canadian and serious mountain biker, Michael, a belgian primary school teacher, and I decided to take a break away from the group for dinner and find a place for locals. The process of ordering was terrifying, and I couldn't claim to be able to identify what we had, but it was all delicious.
Obviously we had to get there first. 20km x 3. I won't bore you, but it was beautiful. Rolling fields with a back drop of volcanic mountains. My trouble will be to take any photos of this stuff: carrying my camera in one hand for 20km while I am dripping with sweat just won't work.
Still, day two down. Tomorrow is the beast. 100km including some stonking hills. The hard lads are really looking forward to it. Hmmm.
