So we have arrived in Bolivia! We´ve heard good thinmgs and bad things including that only 4% of the countries roads are paved...nice! Thats gong to be fun considering we are planning to travel the length of the country by bus!
After a relatively easy border crossing we arrived at Copacabana in Bolivia on the shores of Lake Titicaca. We have decided to spend a few days here and visit the Isla del Sol, an island on the lake which is apprently really sacred to all Bolivians as it is where there religion was originally created. Copacabana itself is a really cool little town and not what we expected at all. Its quite touristy which has its god points and its bad but it has a really boho vibe with cool little artesan shops everywhere and most importantly its really cheap!
After just chilling out on the first day we got a boat ride over to the Isla del Sol on our second day. the voats are the slowest in the world and it took hours to get there. it didnt help that it was raining and absolutlely freezing on the boat. true to its name once we hit the island the sun started shining. We got to see various ruins and were told all about the origins of the island and what all the ruins signified and it was a pretty cool day all in all. Isla del sol is a really spiritual place and its a shame we didn´t stay overnight. Once back in Copa we bumped into some people, Greg and Caz, who we had met in Arequipa all those weeks ago and went for some drinks with them which was pretty cool. We ended up playing drinking games and Tim this German guy was not impressed with the English boys drinking skills! Funny night!
We decided to all get the bus to La Paz together the next day and something tells me that we are soon to see the really Bolivia!
