Tom and Becky Down Under!
From the popular surfing area of Torquay and the famous Bells Beach we headed along the Great Ocean Road. We stopped off at the 12 Apostles, along with a thousand other people before heading along the rest of the beautiful coastline stopping off at Loch ard Gorge along the way. All the pictures and diagrams in our geography text books suddenly became reality....Tom got very excited!! We spent the night at Port Cambell, where Elvis was egged overnight!!
On Wednesday (28/12) we continued along the coast passing The Arch, London Bridge, The Grotto, The Bay Of Martyrs and the Bay of Islands..... Somewhere along the way the valve in one of our tyres went, so having had that fixed we headed to the Grampians National Park via Dunkeld where Tom relived his year three nativity role of Joseph in the towns nativity scene.
Having passed Mt. Abrupt and stopped off at Mackenzie falls we headed to Smith Mill campground for the night.
A 2km walk to The Balconies was first on the agenda the following morning (29/12). A fantastic lookout over undescribable scenery that would make our geography teachers from school wet themselves with excitement. A 4.2km challenging walk, scrambling up rock faces in parts, took us to the Pinnacles. It was a fantastic walk, with a rewarding lookout at the top....i don't think our photos do it justice. Onto a stupidly challenging game of minigolf next, so challenging, we both cheated all the way round!! Our last night in Victoria was spent in Sawpit campground in the Mt Clay state forest. We passed several extinct volcanoes on the way, the most spectacular being Mt Napier.
