We arrived early Saturday morning and got the bus to Y Linh Ho where we meet the guide, Chi. It turned out to be just me and Cath on the trek as everyone else was just doing 1 night and we were doing 2. Trekking here was different to the trek in China as you literally went up and down the edge of the terraces in places...no path!! On the first day we trekked to Lao Chi for lunch and then visited Chi's family in Ta Van - her mum conned us into buying more stuff! Then we headedGiang Ta Chi for our first homestay They were a lovely family and the lady cooked amazing food and then kept filling our glass with rice wine - it would have been rude to say no!
Woke up with heavy heads on Sunday morning after the rice wine, but still managed to trek through Su Pan and Ban Ho villages before getting to the last homestay at Nam Toong. Here we went and washed in the hot springs (not had a wash for 2 days and trekking in the heat I bet we smelt great!). When we woke on Monday morning it was heaving with rain so we couldn't go to the waterfall as planned. The bamboo bridge we had crossed the day before had been completely washed away by the raging river! Luckily we got picked up by a mini bus for a scary drive back to Sapa. In Sapa we took Chi our guide out for a few beers before getting the night train back to Hanoi.
