Tobes on the Go!
So today I was a bit of a crazy tourist (again) - sans an I Love London T-shirt...
Started out at the Tover of London. [So far I have found that either the public museums and gallerys are free, but at attractions you do have to pay for there is often a free guided tour as part of it - the Tower was no exception. Strongly suggest you tag along on a tour by the Yeoman Warders (Beefeaters - don't ask me why they are called that, 'cos they don't even know... there are some 20 or so theores, but none definitive).]
Anyway, the tour only gets you started (it goes for an hour), but points out a lot more things for you to see and do around the Tower afterwards. Did the de riguer Crown Jewels (you actually realise the exhibit is a massive vault with foot thick doors that you are walking through) and the White Tower - this was the first building built (don't ask me the year) and was actually the Royal residence for about 500 years - I think.
Anyway, after that I caught the ferry up the Thames to Greenwich - going past all the development in the Docklands / Canary Wharf.
At Greenwich, I walked up the hill to Royal Observatory and stood over the international dateline - hey, everyone has to do it, ok! Apart from all the history at the Royal Observatory, it's got a great view back down onto the city... yes, I have been burning through film like there is no tomorrow.
