Tobes on the Go!
ok, so after falling asleep relatively early on Friday night again! I think I finally woke up off the couch at nearly 1am (I swear it was only 'cos of the flight). I hung out with the girls around Clapham for part of Saturday before heading into town.
I caught up with AJ (Adrian) at Waterloo station at 3.30 - note to self... allow plenty of time to meet at a station the size of Waterloo, 'cos it makes Spencer St look like East Richmond. Anyway, we holed up at a pub (the Wellington at Waterloo) for several hours - we were only trying to get a feel for a traditional pub... after having some dinner there I headed back home to make some cocktails for the girls (why did I give them a taste for Kaipiroskas...??) before getting ready to meet up with AJ again to head out on the town.
Found my way back into Oxford Circus by about 11pm... we decided that while it would be good to go to G.A.Y. (just to say I'd been there you understand...) we'd rather go elsewhere - as it happens Westlife were performing on Saturday night. Anyway. So hunted out Ghetto, which is near the back of G.A.Y. - and that meant we had to walk through this throng of 16 yo girls and boys waiting to have posters/CDs/bodily appendages signed by their artistically-challenged idols.
Ghetto (Falconberg Court - behind Astoria - London W1) on the other hand was like Retro only better! Actually, it was a cross between Retro - Diva - Laundry - Xchange. Can you get any better I hear you ask...? well, not really. Though, the only criticism I would have is at times the sound system was a little heavy on the treble / light on the bass (depends if you are a glass half full / half empty sorta dude) and ended up sounding like a clock radio on steroids.
Had a fair crack of a boogie - you all know what I'm like when a good song comes on! There were about 3hrs of good songs... and the crowd was cool too. ;-)
Finally called it a night at nearly 4am and managed to get a night bus home - all good, except it was the first time I'd been a non-tourist bus and really didnt know 1) whether I would be able to stay awake or 2) if I would recognise when I was at the right stop. To solve the first problem, some drunk guy decided he would sit next to me and crap on about god knows what and in terms of the second one was just looking out the window, saw something that said Clapham and jumped out the door. Luckily for me it was saying Clapham High Street, not Clapham 5 miles -->.
Enough for now.
