Tobes on the Go!
In short I was a tourist nazi today... got up early and jumped on the Tube to Waterloo.
From there I started walking up towards Westminster, but decided to go on the London Eye to get a bit of a view of the city. Well, I will tell you two things... firstly, I think my (actually, it was Mum's) camera was glad when I got off - needed a rest you see and secondly that 135 metres is a LONG way up. But I ask you, what should I do apart from take heaps of photos when you can see that much?
Anyway, after the Eye, I did get up to see the Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey. The Abbey is an inspiring place and the tomb of the unknown soldier sends a chill down your spine...
From there I headed back along South Bank past the Eye to the Tate Modern. In short, it was a great contemporary collection - favs included a few Dali's and I found some Barbara Kruger stuff (book and postcard prints - alas no exhibition) in the shop.
More walking ensued and I met up with Deepali (one of Andy's friends) for dinner in a traditional English pub. 'Best' ale and a Steak and Ale pie - what more can I say?
I caught up with Kirsty et al at Old Street for a few drinks, some deep conversations about how important garage rock was to the Brit music scene and then on to Central Station in Kings Cross with one of Kirsty's friends Rob. Sorry Rob, but no matter which way you cut it, that place was a dive...
Sleep beckoned once more.
