Dean and Claire's t'internet travel journal
Greetings to all from Ko Pha Ngan,
We travelled here yeasterday by taxi, train, coach, boat and then the back of a truck, sleeping overnight on the train (Though I didn't sleep very well cos I was on top bunk - about six feet off the floor so I was scared I would fall off and kill myself, or at least, the people lying below me)
Ko Pha Ngan is beautiful. We have a hut right on the beach, amongst the palm trees, the hammocks, the white sands and the clear blue sea... for less than 2 pounds per night! pretty impressive huh? However, I must add that though the sea is indeed clear and blue, it is full of big crabs, so I refuse to go anywhere near it...
On our last day in Bangkok we rented a Tuk Tuk (Taxi on three wheels...think flinstones cars and you're close enough) in order to visit some of the main sights. We saw the 80ft golden Buddha, a lucky buddha, the golden mountain and also a Thai clothing store where they tailor make cashmere suits for around 120 pounds. The whole tour cost us 26p!
Tomorrow we are moving over to The busiest part of the Island, ready for the full moon party which sounds amazing. The Thai's have full moon parties every month, but this will be the biggest because it is the first of the new year. They are setting up huge speakers on the beach and expecting around 40 thousand people!
Well, i'm off to get some food, then Dean and I intend to sit on our balcony, listen to the sea and drink cocktails of whisky, red bull and coke... from a bucket (don't ask!)
Claire x
