We decided to visit Phillip Island today and took Max (David's young son) with us. Max had visited the island previously with his school so was able to tell us all about the animals and birds, and show us the cliff paths and the best ways to go. The wind was cold but it stayed dry and sunny for us to make our way the the western tip of the island, Nobbies (see photo). The waves crashed onto the rocks and we saw some young penguins recently hatched in their boxes on the cliff. It was not the weather to linger, so we headed in to the visitor centre and bought some gifts before getting back in the car to make our way to Smith's Beach on the south. A brief stop to look at the Penguin Parade centre- only worth paying to enter during the times the penguins 'perform' at dawn and dusk. A quick stop at Smith's Beach (Max's surname which amused us more than him) for a bite to eat in the café followed by an ice cream before driving to meet Dave, Gayle & Hazel for a coffee near the bridge which led back to the mainland.
