So we arrived at Meeniyan midday. A small town conveniently located for trips to the beautiful coastal area of South Gippsland and Wilson's Promontory. We had just missed seeing a koala with her baby in the tree in the garden- the kids were very excited but disappointed we missed it. The rain became heavier so we sat and chatted, looked at maps of the area and considered our options for today. We decided to take a drive to the coast with the hope the weather would clear. We drove to a place called Inverloch, along the coast road past empty beaches and stopped on a cliff to a look out at the 'Eagles Nest', a large rock structure adjacent to the coastline that resembles the top half of a map of Australia. We then descended the wooden steps down to the sandy beach. The clouds were clearing but the wind still very cold. It wasn't long before we were clambering up the steep steps back to the car to return to Inverloch for a beer. Decided to have a 'curry night in' so a stop in the supermarket for provisions and back to the holiday home in Meeniyan for a cosy evening in. All pleased to have to slow down for a kangaroo to cross the road in front of us on the way! Enjoyed a night in- curry, wine, card-games, 80's music & dancing!
