Blossom Festival- bad weather did not stop the locals enjoying their carnival day. However, we were less keen ton get blown away and waited for the sunshine which do not fail us for the afternoon. The water in the fountain had been dyed pink, the newly prepared square, Albert Square (named after the hotel that once stood there- not the British soap!) had a live band playing, and the atmosphere was relaxed and fun. We stopped in Bar 2013 opposite the square for a Tui and a chat with some mature locals who were certainly not backward in coming forward with their 'ancestral' stories! One claimed to be a direct descendant from the "Wilkinson Sword" family (the other guy commented "you were obviously the 'blunt' family member looking at your face hair" and told us he'd been waiting a long time to "get that one in"). The other guy then informed us that he was from a family of brewers from the Newcastle region, but couldn't remember the brewery name. We were amused by them and I think it was a mutual experience!
Tea was a pizza at Pippi's with Treza & Sean followed by a couple of vodkas at the conveniently located Havelock North Social Club with stunning views of our favourite Peak!
