Today we left Siem Reap to fly to Ho Chi Minh, I really liked Cambodia and the people are genuinely lovely and always take time to talk to you, its a shame to leave.
We had a slight drama at the airport as the lady at check in noticed my Vietnam visa had the wrong date of birth. We then spent the next hour frantically emailing the visa people back and forth, they sent me a new visa but the tiny airport had no where to print or fax it to! I ended up saving the image on my phone and hoping I didn't get interrogated by the Vietnamese customers officers on arrival!
Fortunately after a long stressful wait we got let in to the country! We then totally got ripped off by a taxi driver who insisted the fare was $25 only to find out later it should have been $9, very annoying.
Hotel is quite nice. We went out earlier and had a nice dinner in a rooftop bar where they cooked the food on a hot plate in the middle of the table. We then planned to look around for a bit and got totally lost, i blame Robin, I'm pretty sure it's a fact that men are supposed to have a better sense of direction than women! luckily a local helped us out (we were 'off the map'!). He also told us to cross the roads slowly (like you really have any other choice when you have motorbikes coming at you from every direction!).
When we got back to the hotel we were shattered and just crashed out on the bed to watch tv. After about half I went to clean my teeth only to realise neither of our bags were in the room. After a massive panic looking for them we were on our way out to tell reception when I noticed we were on the wrong floor! We'd been sitting in someone else's room, we quickly tidied up and ran up to our room where our bags were strewn across the room, as we left them! Great security though - I wonder how many other doors our key opens?!
