Arrived in Nha Trang on the night bus on friday at 7am - it poured with rain pretty much the whole way, not ideal being in a beach town in the middle of monsoon season!
We spent most of the first day catching up on our sleep and then went out for dinner and drinks. The bars and restaurants here are all really nice and the food is amazing, although admittedly I've been eating western food as I've gone off local food since I was ill.
It absolutely chucked it down all evening, which gave me the opportunity to use my pac-a-mac (I'm trying to look on the bright side!) although my legs hit soaked as its only covered my top half, even so, out of principle I refused to pay 70p for a full length mac as I spent £25 on mine (it makes sense in my head).
Yesterday we went to a spa in the mountains for a mud bath. We weren't expecting much but It actually turned out to be pretty cool. first we went in a communal mud bath, where we met 3 Hungarians and an Irishman (I feel like this should be the start of a joke) we fortunately got on well with them as we were essentially sitting in a very small bath tub with them! We then showered off and got in a hot spring (again with our new friends) it was sooo hot, really nice.
We then spent the rest of the afternoon with them lazing around in the hot outdoor pools (37-39 degrees!).
We then met up again in the evening for drinks and they gave us loads of tips of where to go and stay in Hoi An and Hanoi. Robin got to watch football and have lots of football chat with the Hungarian which he was pleased about and (i was glad he wasnt trying to talk to me about it). I spent the evening playing career councillor and general business adviser to the Irish guy who was bored of his job and wanted to set up his own business (which with my advice is going to be a multimillion pound company within the year im sure.)
Today is our last day in Nha Trang and we had to wait around until 7pm for our sleeper bus to Hoi An. We spent most of the day sitting in a bar reading which was pretty chilled. I haven't really eaten today though as I'm on my usual 'nil to mouth' before our 14hr bus journey, so there's minimal risk of having to go toilet anywhere too minging. I usually arrive at our destination starving and dehydrated, and very itchy from mosquito bites, it really is THE way to travel!
Getting on the bus was chaos, there was some vietnamese guy in my seat who refused to move and i had to get someone to eject him! We've now been on the bus for 3 hours, two of which we spent parked up in a petrol station as there was something wrong with the bus! The drivers dont bother to tell anyone what's going on though so we all stand outside spectating as to whats wrong with the bus and what they are shouting to eaxh ither (which we interpreted pretty much as 'we're screwed, this bus ain't going antwhere'). Someone eventually arrived on a motor bike with what appeared to be oil, obviously they couldn't fill that up before we left, that would be crazy.
We're now back on the road, only 13 hours to go! Oh, and I have a new challenge for the Mosquitos who managed to bite me through my socks on my last journey - my legs are smothered in 50 deet and I'm wearing socks and leggings (yes, I am the epitome of style). Lets see how much effort they're willing to make for a taste of me!
