Our first day in Siem Reap has been good, the locals here are so nice and can't do enough for you. We've moved to the hotel we were supposed to be in last night but think we'll move again tomorrow to a more expensive one with a pool as I've decided I need a swim every day (I'm missing the beach!).

Today we went to look around the town which is really nice, it had a lot of French colonial style buildings (French ruled here for 100 yrs) and lots of bars on the aptly named Pub Street! The draft beer has now gone down to about 35p a pint, which as you can imagine Robin is loving, especially given that beer is now cheaper than water so I can't moan at him about drinking too much (or so he seems to think!).

I've decided that we've been doing far too much sitting around while we've been away (on buses, boats, over an hour for every meal and drinks in the evening) which is starting to drive me slightly crazy with boredom - Robin can't understand this as his brain is fully occupied by the fact beer is 35p! So I've decided to fill the next few days with every trip and activity available, one of which involves a 5am start to see the sun rising over Angkor Wat (Robin is thrilled).

We went to the market today as well so I could pick up a couple of t-shirts to wear to the temples (all of my clothes were deemed inappropriate by Peter our tuk tuk driver in Phnom Phen!). Also got some rather tacky new sunglasses as Robin sat on mine!

Oh, and today Robin got punched in the arm by another Cambodian kid selling books (after he recited all the Britsh prime ministers going back 20years at us for no apparent reason). At some point he's going to have to buy a book off one of them!

It's now 10pm and we are on pub street enjoying some cocktails. I'm drinking a Tomb Raider which was apparently invented by Angelina Jolie when she was out here filming Tomb Raider. Hay you'll like it - it's Cointreau, lime and tonic...although don't think I've forgotten about our bottle of Cointreau, don't drink it all ;)
