Did a test this morning with two iPhone 4 s, speedtest.net app, one on 2D, one on VFNZ.1.5mb/s on 2D, 110kb/s on VFNZ. Such is my life (JimmyC has made 54 comments)

re: Paihai, New ZealandSamanta 0610 23 Oct 11 to 0955 27 Oct 11.I propose that you hip young urtneibas (some younger, hipper &/or more urbane than others) entertain El profesor until lunch-ish 25th -10-11. At which point we transfer him & his enterage of female Corsican body-builder bodyguards to The Sunshine Coast. Very casual dining @ The Bridge Seafood. On the 26th low tide is a little after lunch, so after a lazy start & a Beach-side cafe Breakfast drive up the beach from Noosa to Rainbow Beach, if he is feeling energetic he could catch a wave or 2 @ Double Island Point or probably spot a Stupid Fat Fish or 2 from the headland, (Seppos seem to like that) then back down through the banjo-playing badlands to Hughesy's Farm for a earlyish BBQ, then return to accom.Arrange for an early airport shuttle bus from SC accom to Brisneyland airport before to arrive 0755, implies an 0600 pick up, but I reckon he can cope with that.To be considered;Transport Bris to SC. Option A hire a car, Option B Train, Option C Birmo's Hovercraft, or Svenska Blitzenvagen.I'm happy to take a day off work & provide transport up the beach & to Hughesy's Farm.Accom @ SC, Many options, I'd urge between Maroochydore & Noosa. Upper End Hyatt Coolum, Lower end Twin Waters & many options between.Do you golf professor? I don't, but I don't judge those that do. The Hyatt @ Coolum is where they play the Aust Open.
re: Time for OzMarcelito Really? I had a friend who bokoed from overseas using a foreign CC, and never had a problem. It'd be terrible if you had to call them from overseas waiting for an agent to pick up often take several minutes. I really hope Cebu Pacific would also make as much effort in improving their ground service as they are in their marketing campaigns.
re: DruggyAri Hi Elvie,Thanks for the comment. You're my first canoemtmtor hahaha. I havent studied photography yet. That's my next of things to do. re: Nelson, New ZealandAlana Kia ora NeilIf you want to know about the migration gain/loss for SA, then email the shppiing companies and ask how many containers they are shppiing in and out of SA for families. For the number of saffers living abroad just wait for census figures to be made available. UK and Oz had a census last year and we have ours next year.As for you hearing saffer accents, it's not surprising. I'm assuming that you live in a well off suburb in Auckland. These same suburbs are where most of the 50,000 plus saffers in this country live. In Wellington I very rarely hear any saffers.I'm guessing that your matric reunion in the UK was pre-GFC. How many are left there now, I wonder? You seem to me to be very unhappy with your life in this country going by your obsession with SA migration figures and the fact that you are on this website. Come on Neil, admit it (if not to us, then to yourself) you want to return home to SA!!!!

re: Paihai, New ZealandTeguh Hi Grace,Barbadian here. Anytime of the year is good, there is always ssunhine about 30degrees C, we have an average of 365 days a year of ssunhine although it does rain sometimes, not often enough though. No immunation necessary but some mosquito repellant is recommended as far as your safety is concerned, Barbados is pretty safe but you should not be too conplacesent, take normal precautions, tourist do get robbed sometimes because the foreign currency is better than our local money:US$ 1=BDS$ 2). It is very easy to get around especially if you hire a vehical, which won't be very expensive. As far as hotels please visit tripadvisor.com and read the reviews, Sandy Lane Hotel is very expensive and you will get better service elsewhere. Come and have fun.
re: Raglan, New ZealandTom I go every February because the whaeter where I come from is heinous at that time, whereas the whaeter in Barbados is near perfection. I think it averages around 28C-30C. They get a fair amount of rain, but showers don't last long and it's so warm that it's never been an inconvenience except for that year we rented the convertable and forgot to put up the roof!Barbados is one of the more prosperous Caribbean countries, so your options for transportation are numerous. I usually rent a small car, but I've heard the public transit is reliable and inexpensive. Taxis are also available, but make sure to negotiate the rates before you go they don't use meters like we do in North America. My doctor never advises me to get immunized before I go, although I would guess it's always advisable to have all your regular shots up to date. It's never a bad idea to get your Hepatitis shots and stuff before you travel.I've never felt unsafe in Barbados, although there are a lot of hustlers that will try to get you to buy drugs or crafts on the beaches or in the tourist areas. They can be a bit pushy, but if you politely decline, they won't harass you too much.I know you were asking about St. James, but my advice to people is always to stay in in the south part of the island (e.g. Christ Church parish). The hotels are numerous and just as good; it's less touristy even though there are still plenty of things to do (Oistins Friday Night Fish Fry for one! And the St. Lawrence Gap is there if you get the tourist urge); you'll find more authentic Bajan things in the area; and it's far cheaper than the west coast!Hope that helps
