Our drive back to Noosa (600km drive to Airlie Beach followed by a 750km drive to Town 1770) was a fairly easy one, seeing more of the Austrailian landscape the main thing we noticed was that it was a lot dryer than our drive up. This was due to the raining season ending and this meant all the trees and grass where starting to go very brown and die. We made it to Noosa and had a great few days surfing, having lunch in the surf club over looking the beach and hiring a boat for the afternoon and going fishing. We stayed in our favour campsite, right next to a beautiful river and met some more great people (mostly kiwis).
We then headed to Moolooaba, 40k south as Tim wanted to do a rec dive there. It was quite a posh little town with another amazing beach. The dive was amazing, but challanging as it was quite confined and deep.
Next up it was back to Byron Bay, where Tim did another dive off Julian Rocks, which turned out to be better than the Barrier Reef. He saw tones of sharks and rays. Incase you are wondering what Chops does when Tim dive..... job searching and she has a blast.
After a crap nights sleep due to noisey drunk 18 year old campers, we were too tired to fit in a surf on the lovley longboarding wave, I guess this means we will have to go back one day! We headed south to Coffs Harbour (only 150k) and after sitting through a brief (20 min) heavey storm we called it a night.
All was great in the morning, a great nights sleep and a lovely longboarding wave meant we got in a surf before driving to Port Macquaire, were we found an awesome little campsite for the night. An early start allowed us to cover 400k, in what was our last "driving day" as we headed to Newcastle first and then onto Sydneys Northern beaches. Newcastle reminded us a lot of Cornwalls beaches, rugged and full of seaguls. The temp had now dropped to 18 degrees (cold when you are used to 30 degrees) and there was a hell of a ocean storm to watch off the beach. When we reached north Sydney we put the tent up for what would be the last time at another nice quiet campsite.
Our first day in the Sydney area comprised of checking out Manly, the surf was huge still from the storm, but we found a dive for Tim which he will go on in a few days whilst Chops snorkels off the beach and we shettled into our tent for the very last night camping.
We are now in a hostel, with lots of young, skint backpakers, so we try not to rub our good budgetting skills (meaning we have a bit of money left and dont just eat toast) in their faces. Today we caulght a Ferry to the Harbour and went for a cream tea (just to be English) and made some plans for our last 5 days.
Will update before we fly home xx
