We arrived at Tin Can Bay and stayed in a really nice quiet campsite and no rain for the first night in a week, so we had a great nights sleep :) we also got to watch a mass migration of tropical rainbow parakeets, about 800/ 900 of them. The next morning we headed to Tin Can Bay Harbour, where every day for the last 50 years 2 wild dolphins have come in every morning at the same time. This all started when one of them got injured (shark attack) and came into the harbour to be saved by the humans. We watched them swim a few feet away from us and then paid £3 each for a fish to feed them, it was a fantastic experience. We then headed to rainbow beach for a swim, which was a lovely beach with a 30 degree heat going on. We then drove on north to Harvey Bay and found a cheap camspite sleeping yards away from the beach. After a day chilling out, which started with Tim doing some early morning successful fishing, during which a dolphin swam past, we went for a walk along the Harvey Bay pier which is 876 meters long and we booked a fishing trip for the next day. The fishing trip was great and we caught loads of fish (unfortunatley all under the legal limit so they had to go back in), but Chops did managed to catch a cod, it was 40cm, which meant we were able to take home and have it for dinner :), with chips ofcourse.
The next day we got to witness a pretty hardcore triatholon, before it was back on the road driving 375km to Yeppoon (just east of Rockhampton) where we camped for a nights rest, right next to the beach. The next day it was back on the road again this time a 520km to Airlie Beach, were we are now and are about to hit the lagoon, unfortuantley we cant swim here as there are still box jelly fish around the bay. Tomorrow we are going on a sailing boat around the Whitsunday islands, so we will let you know how that goes,
Love Chops and Tim xx
