So booked our trek to Roraima with Mystic Tours yesterday our operator drove us back to the border to get more cash to exchange on the black market so we could get the trek at half the price. The trek doesn't officially start till tomorrow but to squeeze us into the date we want our operator has put us in a group that is going with another operator (Adrenaline Tours) too join this group we are heading to San Francisco today to meet up with them early tomorrow. Mark also went back to the hospital today as the last lot of antibiotics had no affect. After finally speaking to an English speaking doctor he got a new course of antibiotics, hopefully this time they will work and he can finally eat a meal without going straight to the toilet! Earlier that day we met a Japanese guy called Hiro (instantly excited by his name as it reminds us of Heroes.) we later discover he has also joined our group to Roriama. Another drip and a few pills later we meet Ricardo (the tour operator) and a columbian teacher called Andreas who will also join us and our guide for the next 6 days Alfredo. So far so good we are all bonding over a few beers in the back of the truck....I've tried to tell mark that drinking with antibiotics may not be a good idea but he cracks under the pressure :)
Arriving in San Francisco we are given with more alcohol, this time a Ricardo's special cocktail which consisted of rum, lime, coke and bitter. We also tried some giant ants which tasted like peanut, with food in our bellies and all feeling a little tipsy Ricardo thinks it will be great to watch the stars. He knows a great spot. Some how we end up in the back of Ricardo's truck who has a drink in one hand and changing his retro English music with the other while driving off road into the wilderness. 10 minutes later we are jumping over rocks.
(luckily no one was injured) finally we stop next to this thumping, which when we turned on our lights was a huge waterfall. Laying on our backs we stargazed, looking at shooting stars and watching the milky way.....
