We woke up early to get to the tour office where we booked our Cotopaxi climb. We needed to try on all our equipment and pay for the rest of the climb. All done. Stevie and I getting worried about Altitude sickness and how unfit we are mentioned every headache or unusual feeling throughout the day.... Maybe just nerves. Anyway we set off to buy the additional items we needed. The tour operator also recommended that we take the teleferico (cable car) up the Pichincha volcano at 4100m it would help us acclimatise. The view of Quito was amazing. In the distance we could see the snow covered top of the Andes and Cotopaxi. We stayed up here for a while. Everything we were doing we were saying this is the highest we have done.....kissing, weeing, etc........
We then got the speedy cable car down and tried to hail a cab, this proved difficult so we got a taxi with a German guy back to New Town. We dropped him off and continued in the taxi to Parque el Caroline, where we needed to book our bus ticket to Lima, Peru. The Bus only runs on Tuesdays so we needed to book in advance. After an extensive search and several circles we managed to find the ticket office.
Finally booking our ticket, not looking forward to the 34hr bus ride......
We headed back to the hostel. Where we met a new girl in our dorm. A south african girl who used the F word in every sentence. We spent to much time talking to her and ended up getting dinner late. She wanted to go out drinking with us but we politely declined, well Stevie did, but I was up for it. Probably best we didn't as we have our climb tomorrow.
A Burrito as long as my arm later we packed our bags and headed back to the hostel to find a local puking all over the front of the hostel. We kindly let him finish before we approached. One deep breath and moving quickly we were in the hostel, packed our bags and then was ready for bed.
