Another early morning. We wanted to see the sunrise over Lake Titicaca. What topped the sunrise off was that the sun rose between the snow capped mountains. We all stood there watching the sunrise and taking pictures. It was beautiful. We then grabbed some breakfast where we bumped into Kerri again. We keep crossing paths. After breakfast we head out to see the temple of the sun. We need to rush as we want to get the 10.30 boat back to Copacabana. We make it to the ruins and take a few pictures before realising that we don't have enough time to make it back to the boat. Then out of the blue a boat passes and offers to take us to Copacabana cheaper than the normal price. Result!!
We enjoy the last tranquil moments of the islands before arriving in the bustling festival at Copcabana. Copcabana was really really busy. Hundreds of people were around, many on a large hill that sat by the side of the lake.
When we arrived we said our goodbyes to Sandra before going for a drink. We arranged to meet up with Begonia at the bus station that evening to head to La Paz.
Ray, Stevie and I had time to kill so decided to venture up the hill that all the locals were walking up!! It was a hard walk. There were loads of market stalls going up the hill, in fact the whole town was covered with stalls. The stalls had model houses, cars, fake money etc. what the Bolivians do is they buy items from these stalls, take them to the top and pray for this item. So if they brought a car. They would head up and pray for a car.
We finally got to the top. There was a huge cross and a shrine of the virgin of Titcaca. At this shrine is where the locals would pray.
We didn't want to impose so we took some photos and left. Ray brought some fake America Dollars on the way down. We also tried some of the local street food. Fried pork, it was really nice. Just hope we don't pay for it later.....
We spent the rest of the day trying to move our flight day forward. Catching up on emails. Grabbing a doggy burger and Stevie checking the police station for her bag one last time. We picked up our bags from our hostel before we got on the bus to La Paz.
It was only 4 hours to La Paz, Copacabana is not connected to the rest of Bolivia so half way we had to get a boat over to the main land while the bus followed on a raft. 2 hours later we arrived in La Paz. Begonia had made reservations for all of us at a hostel called the Wild Rover. We grabbed a taxi and headed there, Loud music and drunk backpackers it was a party hostel. This will be interesting. Tired from the journey we headed to bed around 11.30.
