We had a really late wake up call this morning, and no body was in our 'dorm' so we had a private room for dorm room prices which was good!
We went out for breakfast at about 10.30am, hoping to go to little Sapa for food but they were still saying that they were closed! They have lost so much business off just us lot over the last few days! We settled for the fansipan restaurant, it was nice sitting outside on the terrace watching the world go by, and the Pho was good!
We took the trek to the Ham Rong mountain which is basically in town. There were a few tourist markets on the way up, we had to pay to walk up the mountain - rip off!
The area was pretty with lots of flowers and ponds which had giant tadpoles!
The ascent was hard and we kept getting lost to find the viewpoints, eventually we reached the top and the view of Sapa town was beautiful. It was so calming just to sit and watch; the mountains surrounding us are massive, especially fansipan - that's a bloody big rock. It's 3142m above sea water is the peak!
After sitting for a while as taking in the breathtaking views we trekked back down and chilled out in the hostel on the big cushions and fluffy rugs, well I did. Scott was glued to the tele because formula 1 was on.
We grabbed some grub and then monged out on the fluffy rugs again until it was time to trek up through the town to the bus station back down to Hanoi.
I hope it's sunny in Hanoi tomorrow, it may make us change our minds about the place.
Had a right palarva with the bus, we got to the camel travel office and a dirty man in a good stained trampy white best was playing cards and wasn't interested in the customers at all, I have him out ticket which we had arranged on Friday. He said 'no! 9pm, you on 9pm bus' I was confused, it blatantly says 5pm and we confirmed it with the travel agent in Hanoi. I was angry so asked to phone the company, he said you use the phone in a s***ty manner so I did and couldn't use it. He eventually typed the numbers in but spoke Vietnamese to the guy on the other end obviously telling him what to say to me. He said '5pm bus full, been mix up. You wait till 9pm or sleep on floor of bus on this one because beds are full.'
Absolutely fuming I walked out, Scott went in shouting and the guy said it was nothing to do with him! Then luckily a Japanese guy came over to us who speaks Vietnamese and lives in HCM, he helped us and gave us his phone to phone the hotline ourselves, this time the guy was adamant he had booked us on the bus and rang the head office of camel travel who confirmed aswell. So when the bus came we put our luggage on underneath and waited at the door to sign our name in and where we were going, another shifty guy let us write our names down and then said you sleep on floor and we kicked up a fuss again so we rang the hotline back and made the driver speak to him, although the Japanese guy that was helping us said that the driver was trying to protect himself somehow so basically I think they were trying to put extra people on the bus and pocket the money for it by throwing us off and putting us on a 9pm bus. We said we would sleep on the floor, we weren't waiting around another 4 hours and getting into Hanoi at 4am Sunday morning! Once everyone got on his reluctantly said 'okay get a bed.'
We went in the bus and guess what... SIX SPARE SEATS! what and absolute idiot, I wanted to smack him! we took the three at the back in one big bed, another girl two girls got on and he made the one sit by us, it wasn't so bad though as there was quite a lot of room for us to all lie.
Had such a palarva and for no reason at all, what a crappy end to an awesome few days in beautiful Sapa!
Got to Hanoi at 10.30pm, in time for Scott to see the football although he found that the tele in the room doesn't play it so he went out and watched it, he sent me a message to say he got on a motorbike taxi and they took him to a bar to watch it. I wonder if he will find his way back?! That is the big question!
...well he did find his way back but at 1.30am the receptionists are asleep on their camped beds and the shutter is locked down so luckily Scott managed to get hold of me on what's app (JUST AS I WAS ABOUT to fall into a deep sleep)
I managed to wake the guy up but Scott had only been banging on the wrong shutter, god help him if they had woken up and he had to say 'no sorry guys, wrong shutter! Haha
