There isn't much to do in the centre of Hue so we had a lie in and I cut Scott's hair with my trust first aid scissors and Christmas cracker prize comb, this time I didn't cut it to short and he's happy with it!
We had breakfast downstairs, pre ordered Pho Bu, and a freshly squeezed orange juice which was all delicious!
We headed out around 12pm, we didn't fancy the walk and I've being dying to get in the prams with the bicycles on the back so we got one each. They took us to the forbidden city, we had a walk around, it was built in the 1800s when the Chinese had power of the city and province of Hue. A lot of it was ruins with the main palace building and the surrounding three or four busing a still being in use with exhibitions in, the buildings were painted the authentic yellow and ochre colour with dark wood beams and ceilings and gold and red shutters, ornaments and carvings into the walls.
Afterwards we went to some secret garden that again was Chinese and Japanese influenced, it was pretty and only small but there was nobody there, not even in the little shops that had what looked like pricey stuff in them! It was a little weird!
They cycled to the museum which held all the swords and bowing arrows, vases, beds and keepsakes of the royal family that used to reign through the Chinese/Japanese ruling.
They tried to scam us by getting more than double what they originally said for the bicycles, we gave them 50,000 extra and walked away! We weren't giving them 400,000VD for an hours trip over the bridge! So they had 200,000VD instead, still pricey enough that was!!
We grabbed some food and went back to the hotel to wait for the bus to arrive, I uploaded all the photos on a memory stick to the USB because we have run out of memory on our camera!! All okay now though, 16 GB should last us on the canon camera until we leave.
The bus was around an hour late, we jumped aboard a sleeper bus with it's final destination being Hanoi.
We tried to have a nap but I kept putting my alarm on because we didn't want to miss the stop, we were late getting in. There was a lot of low dog and clouds, I think the town is one street, there isn't much here just a few booking offices, hotels and three or four restaurants and a pharmacy - from what we could gather at 10pm.
There were people everywhere at the hostel and they were playing some 90s classics! We checked into our room, it's a four bed dorm with ensuite. Beds are comfy and we have air con and breakfast included, all for $5 each a night!
We grabbed a beer with Sarah, Mike, Lewy and Rosanna before bar closed.
Having a little bit of a dilemma, we wanted to get the bus to Hanoi tomorrow night with them to do the Halong bay cruise altogether but the bus is fully booked to Hanoi so we have to stay tomorrow night and go the day after, it sucks but nothing much we can really do about it! Typical, that we want to go someone by a certain date and we have a problem booking on the bus, that's a first in Asia!! Usually you only need at least 10 hours notice!
