I didn't have the best of nights sleep last night, tossing and turning because my back was aching and couldn't get comfortable on this reclining chair! They need to invest in some sleeper buses with actual beds like Cambodia not these open chair sleepers; or even make them a little wider!
Scott had two sleeping tablets so he was knocked out like a light, everytime I woke up he was in the same position so I'm pretty sure he slept fine.
Woke up properly about 6.30am, the scenery is lovely with all the rice paddy fields either side of us and all you can see are the pointy Vietnamese hats bobbing around in amongst them.
Got into Hoi An around 9am and there was a driver and his minivan from the hotel waiting to pick us up which was free of charge so not complaining!
The hotel seems nice, it has a pool and breakfast is included! It's big here, with a mixture of dorms and privates. We spotted Mike and Sarah sat having breakfast and had a quick catch up before we grabbed some breakfast. We couldn't check in until 12 so we went for a walk and to suss out the tailoring here; Hoi An is tailoring town, you can get everything done how you want it in what ever style and material you want for pretty cheap prices. This guy who was hanging around at the bus stop and hanging around outside our hotel kept banging on about his shop and followed us all the way up the street trying to get us to go in his shop, it's weird and creepy. He would get way more business if he wasn't out trying to push people from going in his shop. I get that that's the way here in Asia and there are tailoring companies coming out of your ears but it gets a little annoying. We found the shop we got recommended by Tara and Elanor when we were in Dalat; they were right she was good! She didn't bother us at all when we were looking around and it wasn't long before Scott found a style and material and he was designing his own blazer, at first he was having one and then he was having two and then he added a white shirt because he can never find one that's tidy and fits correctly. That took about 2 hours sorting it all out because he's a man and it's hard. Ha!
But I think the outcome is going to be fab!
I'll go back this afternoon once I've decided what style I want!
We couldn't find Sarah and Mike at the hotel after we checked in so we hired a moped and went out around the old ancient town, it's really pretty! Yellow and ochre coloured buildings with dark brown thatched windows and shutters, all tailors and little or ornament shops or quirky French styled restaurants and cafés. Old women crouched down around the street stalls in one part selling their fruit and veg; the florist shop here has some beautiful flowers!
Afterwards we went back to have my dress and jumpsuit fitted, I can't wait to see them!
On the drive back we spotted a pool table hall with tonnes of pool tables so stopped in their for an hour and I lost a few games to Scott..
Still busy busy, we stopped again on the way back and I had a pedicure and Scott had a back massage. Only when we got back I realised my toes had smudged so total waste of time! :(
Tonight we went out for some food on our own because weren't much company as we were so tired from not having a great night sleep last night on the bus, we forced ourselves to stay up until 10 for some stupid reason, maybe because we felt like losers going to bed at 9pm with everyone in the garden bar drinking and playing music!
