I was easier getting up this morning than we thought, you could hear everyone and every tiny little noise! We grabbed some breakfast at the hostel and wet rallied around to leave for 8am. There were around 17 of us so a big group! They must make a killing with groups this big everyday!
We all tried to fit into one minivan but failed so they had another one. We got taken to 'Datlana Falls' the ones we wanted to go and see and do the bobsleigh but that looks a little pants and we realised we wouldn't have been able to jump in and have a swim in these waterfalls unless you were harnessed because the current was strong, so it wouldn't have been much fun at all.
At first they showed us how to the basics whilst being tied to a tree and going down a little hill. The technique was a little different to when we did it in India but they all have their different ideas and ways don't they!
We walked quite far down to the first waterfall, it wasn't too bad, after you went out over the bulky bit of the rock it was a straight wall down we could jump down over and then we reached the freezing cold water. Mike got stuck and his body dropped way below his legs and got stuck flapping about, he let go of too much rope and didn't move his feet so he had to somehow try and get his feet below his body again without letting go of the rope haha!
The second abseil was a sheer drop and the water below was stupidly strong so you had to hold on to a rope they'd put across the water for us.
Then we went down a waterslide, backwards and head first! The rocks were smooth to able you to do it. We went down at a speed though! The GoPro caught that action! We had a lazy river to go down, this part of the stream was quite relaxing with all the trees and long grass surrounding us. This is what the life jackets were for! Haha.
We had a second water slide where we could go down in twos so Scott was on the bottom and I had to basically lie on top of him, the water was going so fast; I had a nice ride but Scott had a bit of a bumpy one I think! The current as you fell off the rock into the pool was strong and took you under for a split second which wasn't nice.
We had lunch after this, sat in the sun and dried off whilst the three guides and rangers put a spread on for us, we had bread rolls, tomato and cucumber, pork strips that looked like tofu, dairylea cheese triangles, pineapple and watermelon, bananas and biscuits.
There was so much food! I kept going up and getting loads of tomato slices! FairPlay to the men in Asia, they all know how to cook up some concoction!
After lunch we got chucked in at the deep end again and this time the abseil was 25 metres high, through a waterfall and 3/4 of the way down we had to let go and fall back wards into the water. Easy peasy! No, the water was so forceful pushing on your legs when you were going down the waterfall it was hard to keep your feet on to the rocks, and once you had gone over the edge you had a face full of water so you couldn't see anything or the guide telling you what to do! Scott had the go pro for this one and the force of the water knocked the camera off his wrist when he fell into the water. Luckily we had the floaty on and it floated to the top, my heart stopped when he told me! The video is funny at the end he is looking into the lense screaming 'aw I nearly lost you!' Haha!
I didn't realise until we got close to the bottom of the fall that the drop was pretty high, the guide told us it was only 2 metres; there was no way in hell that was 2 metres high! More like 4 metres, and it may not sound that big but when your abseiling with a tonne of water falling on top of you and you have to let go of the rope that's saving you from falling it's a little nerve racking!
This abseil and jump was still the best one of the day so far!
Next was the free jumps, you could do 7metres and 11metres, I chickened out of the 11 metre because there were rocks juttering out underneath so you had to take a run and jump at it but keep running in mid air and I'd be scared that id stop at the edge in sheer panic and then that would have been a disaster so I took the chickens route out and down the 7 metre jump! :)
Scott thought he was jungle boy jumping off it loads of times!
Next we had another lazy river and some rocks we had to climb around in the stream until we reached our last waterfall of the day! The washing machine! A boy split his chin open on this yesterday, only because he was being stupid and went upside down; well if you'd seen this waterfall and abseil you'd understand why!
The rock we were abseiling down had a waterfall to the left of it, it was a narrow space with a big rock face on the otherwise of the waterfall, we had rock half way down and then we were free abseiling (without touching any wall with our feet) down the last part, by now the waterfall is gushing out on top of you and your getting pretty close to it, they call it the washing machine because if you don't go down quick enough sometimes the speed of the Ayer can twist you around like a spin cycle!
Well again the guide told us we would feel the water when we get to the bottom and just be able to jump in and we would feel the rocks underneath our feet - WRONG. You let go and you were directly underneath the waterfall so the water pushed you down and under the water spitting you out of the small gap between the rocks into the pool at the bottom, so you were under water for around 4-5 seconds! It was an awesome abseil but dead scary when you came to the last bit of your rope and had to fall into the water!
We have had such a great day!! It's been completely different to the last time we done it aswell which was good!
The last obstacle was the steep steep STEEP hill vertically up the hill to the main road, half way I thought I was having an asthma attack and guess what no ventalin and not even any water! Awesome times!
Soaking wet we all climbed in the minivans, dyeing to just get back and have a warm shower and dry off. The four of us went out for food tonight, we got recommended a restaurant down in the town that was on lonely planet and tripadvisor (their all on tripadvisor, I think they print the stickers and certificates out themselves!)
Scott had spring rolls but the outside of it was spinach leaves wrapped around beef which were delicious! We all had the normal spring rolls, Scott is getting a little date devil!
We were all trying to just use the chopsticks for dinner, try and catch up with Scott but sometimes the spoon was just too easy to pick up and use!
Me and Sarah splurged out and had two glasses of red wine! Whilst the boys got through 6 beers.
We all had a three course meal, and the bill came to 1,096,000 VD. It's okay because that's just £30! Bonkers how cheap that was! It should have cost about £100 minimum at home!
We went back and got chatting with everyone, muma came over and started giving us all back massages so we all had to do a train of massaging each other's backs! She's absolutely bonkers, gives a good massage though!
