We were late getting up again this morning! This heat and walking all this way is killing us off.
We went to Chinatown this morning to explore a little, we seen a few Chinese temples and the street hawkers stalls, it smelt greasy there but they were cooking morning glory! Yummy!
After a stroll around we went down to the harbour front and tested some perfumes in the shopping mall... We wee actually just spraying loads of perfumes to make us smell a little better as we run out of deodorant this morning! Whoops. Haha. Such scroungers!
We went over into the Southern ridges park, apparently it's really famous in Singapore with views and a lovely walk. The first part looked daunting, loads of steps!
The signs were a little off putting as well, 'stay away from monkeys S$5000 fine if you feed them' 'do not enter the forest during or after a storm', aw bloody great! We both love monkeys aswell so that's going to be fun if we bump into some alone in the forest! Not.
We spotted a massive spider on the trail, it was a bigger version of what we saw in Munnar, India. It parked up right on the side of the trail making him entirely exposed to threat, not sure many people would threaten that thing mind! It was pretty damn big! We think that we are nature guys though so we get close and snap a few photos - silly people.
We carried on up the steps, I was looking down at all times after Scott said 'there are probably snakes in here! I wonder if we will see any!?'
Although the one split second that I look up to take in the view... As I am about to place my foot on the step there's a bloody snake! I kid you not, I real snake raising his head up to me ready to bite if I had stood on him. It was all a little hair raising and as I screamed Scott looked down and screamed like a girl as well and shouted 'run!' We were in fits of laughter after the incident and of course after trying to get some snaps of the fellow.
In all serious what if I had stood on it, it would have bit my leg in no time and then I would have had to gone to hospital in case it was poisonous! Scott said that would have been a fun story to tell... Haha yeah for him!
It was boiling so once we reached the top of the mountain (yes a mountainous park in the middle of Singapore city) we stopped at the restaurant over looking Sentosa island and the cable car ride that went from where we were and down into Universal Studios. We were sort of glad that we didn't go to Universal because it was no Florida from what we could see. We could only see two roller coasters and that would have taken all of 10minutes to do. At S$78 per person I think it's a little waste of money!
The berry berrilicious smoothie was delicious! We began to hear a few rumbles of thunder in the distance, we held out and carried on walking not sure it would come to much because it seemed far away and there wasn't any lightning - yet. We reached Mount Faber Point, the views were pretty but I proffered to look at the trees and wildlife... What is happening to me?!
We walked miles, over a really fancy piece of architecture bridge and then we made it to the forest walk, only it was made of metal on stilts going through the forest. It was lovely but the thunderstorm was a little closer now and I wasn't planning on getting struck by lightning today! Not the best place to be in the middle of the thunderstorm - a metal walkway in a forest!
There was plenty of wildlife we seen some pretty birds, a bright illuminous yellow bird which was probably some sort of budgie that had escaped from someone. Squirrel v birds fights! Ginormous ants, we started flicking them off the walkway - cruel but they're huge! They're just getting bigger and they'll soon want to take over the world!
After another 13km walk today and some wildlife watching our feet were aching and we headed back to the hotel for a rest and a much needed shower before we went back out to Chinatown for some dinner this evening, and only at 8pm had it started raining. That storm did take a while to reach us after all!
