Nobody to wake us up this morning just the stale smell that’s still lingering in the room of what we can only suggest is Ellie’s trainers (this she is strongly disagreeing on even after Mike smelt them). The window isn’t letting enough air in to the room, we just have to smell our way through it...
Both up around 8am, my back is concerning me a little. It’s very very stiff this morning. First time it’s felt this bad since I’ve had the procedure in May... stretching isn’t loosening it up either which again is worrying me a little.
We went up to the flat piece of field on mount Victoria and did a hiit session, well... Ellie did and I told her what to do because after the walk I was pretty much paralysed so I wasn’t risking anything much to my frustration.
I worked her well though! Well enough so she could allow herself to have a naughty ‘Cuba Street, Ugly Bagel’ with Swiss cheese - bloody yummy!
Cuba Street was quite funky, lots of little cafes and pubs, antique and boutique shops were pretty funky aswell! Lots of buskers dotted down the street that you try to dodge we contact with so not to give them any money even though they sound good.
We also had a snooze around the Te Papa national museum which had way too much information inside of it. You needed a few days to go in and out of it so you didn’t fry your brain with all the information. The nature part was great, New Zealand only has birds as native animals and most them are extinct because the British and Europeans brought stouts, possums and rats over on boats that became their predators and because when the birds first got to New Zealand they didn’t need to fly because they didn’t have a predator they became flightless and therefore were easy targets for the bigger animals.
We went inside a make shift house that was a simulator made to give you an idea of what a 6.5 magnitude earthquake felt like. The second earthquake I’ve felt and it’s scary to think how much damage it does. Especially knowing that wellington is sat right on the middle of the tectonic line and well overdue an earthquake...
For some reason we were absolutely wiped out from using our brains and walking all day so we went back for a late afternoon nana nap before heading out for taco Tuesdays in a bar Alex recommended, rogue and vegabond.
Still no rain in the city but still bloody crispy cold!
After a few cheap cheap tacos we went over to the American cowboy bar for Ellie to have a swing around the bucking bull. She lasted 10 seconds haha!
