Preying that the gods were on our side last night and for this morning for the heli hike, such a shame we couldn’t get up there yesterday but at least we got to see the glacier from 600metres up and not so far away.

8.30am we got over to the heli hike base only for them to tell us the exact news we did not want to hear, the heli hikes are cancelled (probably for the next week) because of the forecast coming in and it being too dangerous for the heli copter to land up on the glacier. Even though we could see the mountains way better today than yesterday, such a bloody shame! We found another glacier we can do it to from mount Cook village only that one is more expensive but unfortunately it’s one of our bucket lists and we are all this way so we have to try and beat the weather, let’s hope for next week that we can do it!

And as we walked back to the retreat it started raining... and that was pretty much it for the day, we organised phillipines and some domestic flights there, went to get lunch for tomorrow, did our washing and drank tea all day. Tried to avoid eating because it was pizza fest tonight at the bar on site - all you can eat pizza all night fresh from a pizza oven. Yummmy!

We all sat around got drunk on cheap kiwi deals and stayed warm next to the fire. Oh! And we did a sweep stake on the Melbourne cup, I chose Ellie’s horse and it came 3rd by default of the other horse cheating (didn’t know that was possible) but I’m pretty sure she should be sharing her 30$ winnings with me as I picked the horse... she’s not having any of it.
