How nice is it to sleep in your own bedroom without any farting and snoring other than your own?! Bloody lovely!
I did wake up before my alarm though because I was dreaming is slept late and then I was all in a fluff, just like home in the winter putting your leg outside of that warm bed into the freezing cold air... I didn’t want to get out of bed!
I managed to have a good stretching session before I got up and ready, and down to the reception for what was supposed to be a sharp 8.30am pick up, he was fifteen minutes late.. all stood freezing our boobies off having to jump around to keep warm.
We were transferring onto a large coach for today’s itinerary to Milford sound with all the day trippers.
No one claimed the front two seats in the bus so we snapped them up, we love a front seat because you get to see the absolute incredible views front on and today we were going to Milford sound which is what they claim absolutely out of this world beautiful with all the mountains and valleys.
Well... they weren’t very wrong there either. It was incredible!! The mountains were enormous, couldn’t believe our eyes as to how big they were. All with snow still on the peaks and snow still at the bottom of them in parts as well which makes you realise it’s still very cold. The mountains gave you a crick in your neck looking up to them from the bus. They were mysterious And mystical with the waterfalls off the dark rocks and crystal clear or blue water running from them, snow on the tops of them and the clouds thinning out for that blue sky to deep through!
We drove past lake Te Anau, the second largest lake in New Zealand. With lake taupo being the largest that could fit Singapore into it. Te Anau lake is the deeper though at around 320metres deep!
The boat ride through the Milford sound which opened up into the Tasman sea. The mountains and cliffs, waterfalls were breathtaking. You have to see it all to believe how beautiful it is, we just all sort of stood on top deck and smiled whilst sailing through it because we were speechless. (Of course a few photos once we found our tongues again and stopped catching flies) but not even a photo can pick up how lovely this place is. It’s enormous, these mountains are seriously flipping massive! They make a boat look small in the short distance, a helicopter looks like a fly. Thankfully the sun was out aswell which made the day even better! I think if it was raining it definetly wouldn’t have been the same even though everyone says it doesn’t matter what the weather is doing because if it’s raining the foirds have hundreds of waterfalls trickling down them so it looks even better. I’m a sunshine kinda girl though I’m afraid.
After the boat we had a few more stops along the way back to Queenstown but it was mainly a long drive back on the coach to get into Queenstown for 6pm. A tiring day on the bus but worth it, especially sitting front seat too!
Stopping at base tonight before we head off on our next adventure tomorrow. But first a catch up with Claire before we go our separate ways for a cheeky fergburger that we have starved ourselves for today! When in Queenstown aye?!
Incan see why people want to stay here for so long, it’s such a nice little town! Well worth a visit!!
