It was a debated topic amongst myself and I, whether or not I’d blog again this trip. But then I guessed why not, at least this summer I’d have someone to share my experiences with for the entire trip and not just one third of it. I wouldn’t be on the almalfi coast in the singles corner drinking a bottle of wine by myself… crying to myself. Ahhh, it wasn’t an entirely lonely experience… they gave me discount on the wine and the waiter with the monobrow would chat me up now either out of pity or a bid to get me to spend more money!
And I guessed why the hell not, the last time I travelled with the foodie was 2019 and I laughed for four months (at her). It was the best time!
Ronnie and Rexxie back on the road, of course she’s had trouble in Heathrow with delayed flights, the UK…. Seems a given to expect something to go upside down in that country at the moment!
I handed the rental in ahead of plenty time expecting long queues and check in to be long winded, of course I over exaggerated this timing, it’s Dubai currently the land of where everything’s going smoothly, apart from the damn petrol prices and I am adamant that they have put water or juice in with the petrol to make it be used faster. Spoilt I know, crikey Moses they’d shout bloody murder at me in the UK moaning at a “full special” for £30. Still it’s a double of what I’m used to!
Airport terminal 1…. Not for me! I’ve been spoilt with the good ole Emirates boys!
Big - grand - clean - organised and beautiful.
Not a terminal full of peoples trolleys falling on the floor balanced with 12 cases, 6 boxes in excessive cling film wrap and a new TV for 4 people. If one more of them ram their trolley into me I’m going to ram it where the sun doesn’t shine. it’s been a stressful 6 weeks. I haven’t calmed down yet. Or come to terms that I am no longer in the position I’ve been in since February 2020 managing 25 kids… sorry I mean adult staff. Bittersweet handover but time to move on and think about me instead of them.
Terminal jam packed, beauty of a smart pass passport and being the social status that I am in this country security took no longer than 5 minutes, within no time I was sat in the pub, an empty one at that.
The plane was what it said on the package… ‘economy restricted’ god damn leg room… have Royal Jordinian air ever heard of it? Jesus Christ! My knees were in the seat in front of me, kids EVERYWHERE banging the chairs, bloody nightmare. Had a chicken sandwich and a space beer though. Couldn’t keep my eyes open, I need to get some shut eye driving the roads of Jordan tomorrow. I’m sure I’ll be grand, just like driving in UAE I hear… just a few more pot holes, less barriers and rules. Haha can’t be as heavy as a 3 wheeled rickshaw in the country of the death road… India!
Bloody kids - get control of the little things. I’m not discriminating but Arabs have no respect sometimes with other people and being disruptive. Or personal space!
Pretty quick and easy getting through the security, it doesn’t seem like a problem with Jordinians skipping the queue and walking passed the mesh barriers avoid security and check in to the country. Also face masks aren’t a thing by the looks which is FANTASTIC!
Bags took over an hour to arrive, half the planes bags arrived half didn’t, started to sweat but figured it worked out a little better whilst waiting for Ellie to arrive.
Finally we reunited in baggage claim at 01:30AM, but both a little exhausted.
Drive to the hotel for a few hours Kip before Day 1!
