Bloody lovely Kip last night! Love a hotel bedsheets and fluffy pillow. Really need to start taking one or two of mine on holiday and swopping them out!
Breakfast included so we fed well at the international buffet before our walk to the international driving permit office and a giggle and catch up along the way. Ellie feeling nervous haha she gets like this to start off in a new country. I'm one with the locals now I guess. Used to the Arabs.
The permit got done in about 20 minutes, now to go pick the car rental up! Lovely jubbly , free upgrade aswell which was kind because I can't imagine me driving a manual anymore let alone on these roads. Everyone says the driving is crazy, I mean it is but that's Dubai too! Only Jordan i had soon realised was that they have no lines for lanes on the roads, they usually just drive through the red lights and there are in fact random unmark speed bumps in the road.
Ellie is the sat nav, god help haha!! She already told me to go left when it was in fact right and we hadn't left Amman yet! This was going to be fun haha.
We drove to mount nebo, at the top of a mountain we parked up it was a short walk up to the church and it's ruins, you could look down on to all of the paths and churches and areas etc as to where Moses used to live. You could also see Bethlehem and Jerusalem in the very far distance as we were now on the boarder of Israel and Jordan.
Wasn't far to the Ramada where we were staying for two nights, took us a while to figure out how to get on the other side of the road mind. Security was tight, had to open the boot, mirror under the car and checked the booking before we were allowed through the gates. Not sure if it's because we are on the border or they're just self conscious of something haha.
Checked in, funny smell in the toilet but guessed it was because of the sulphur build up I'd read before. The view from balcony was great of the Dead Sea!
This was a budget Ramada you could tell, however nice enough to sit around the pool for the afternoon and relax a little. Much to our dismay no booze in the hotel on Heineken 0.0%.
Dinner options were limited and we fancied a bevvie, so we asked reception and they mentioned a mall down the road 5 minutes next to Hilton, indeed there were so we headed off down there and looked for some place to eat and have a drink. We bumped into a restaurant called the Rovers Inn, decorated like coronation street and they even had Betty's hot pot on the menu haha.
Not an Arabic delicacy as we had hoped but nevertheless we were hungry and it sat well followed with a cold beer!
The whole place had valet signs up in the car park, not sure if they know how valet works but I don't park my own car and then you give me a ticket and take my keys it works the opposite way. So no, I was not paying your 2JD for you look after my keys!
