There wasn't much to report yesterday, we chilled by the pool; booked our bs to Phnom Penh and our hotel there too - 'Huy Herng Guesthouse' it seemed nice and it was cheap!
We went for a stroll around the block in the afternoon, craving some ice cream we went up to the pub street and found a shop that sold 'magic stick ice cream' it's a corn flour stick with vanilla ice cream pumped through the middle of it and comes out either ends, it's in the shape of one of those walking sticks full with smarties or jelly beans that you get in the airport! Hehe.
In the evening we walked to and from pub street, aren't we getting fitness fanatics again! Haha. We went to the same place to eat last night because it was so good and on our price range! I had a hug chicken skewer with a tiny fluffy jacket potato! Aw I enjoyed that the most I think!
Scott nearly cracked tonight, he wants to try the local beer 'Angkor' we haven't drunk since our last night in Thailand (so three days ago) we are on the straight and narrow T Total now... For a while; well that's the plan!
This morning we had to be up early, I had a really bad back from sleeping awkwardly I think. And last night and this morning I've had the s***s, (excuse the explicit details) but after everything I have eaten for the last 24 hours and now this morning I feel sick, I have cramps in my stomach and I still have the s***s. What a fab day this is going to be on a public bus to Phnom Penh so I doubt very much there is going to be a toilet on them! Oh, and this bus journey is 6 hours long (supposedly).
The bus journey was a mixture of feelings, at one point I thought I had followed through but I was okay! We stopped for toilet break but I just had cramps and felt a little nausea.
It didn't help that we had chosen the seats that reclined but wouldn't stay where they reclined so every bump we went over at a speed we were bouncing around because the seat was flapping back and forth and it was screwed to the floor properly! Then I had a young lad spewing the ENTIRE WAY, he was sat behind me. Also there was a family with three little kids who didn't stop moving or grabbing our chairs and screaming, but to top that off the baby there a can of Pepsi over our heads and it went all over us so my hair was just delicious by now! Come at me Mosquitos!
Oh then a Norwegian guy who kept eating Pringles, he must have had a Mary Poppins bag because he kept getting food out, the Pringles were cheese... Any other time I wouldn't mind but it made me feel even more sick.
Oh and then the air con stopped working, so I was having really hot flushes, feeling faint and not having any cold water.
Six hours had passed, feeling on and off the whole way there, we stopped with about 10 miles to go! Some strange ways these people have! All the buses were pulling up to have their engines sprayed with water, it was like a Turkish car wash! They were going crazy fast over them all! I got off to go to the toilet, rushed to the restaurant to punch some napkins and into the toilet. Fabulous! It was an eastern toilet. Those ones you have to stand on either side and squat down to pee in the whole. This was an experience! Especially feeling unwell! Good job there was a saucepan and a tub of water next to it, that's all I can say!
Couldn't have got there quick enough, we grabbed a tuk tuk and got near enough all the way to the door only there was a food market in our way, so of course this meant that we had to walk through it. I was nearly sick over all the fish and meet with flies all over them. It was disgusting! I probably wouldn't have minded if I didn't feel ill but my nose was so super sensitive!
The woman at the desk didn't seem overly keen to see us and reception looked dark and dingy but our room is good for £4 a night! We have cable tv a fan and an electric shower; the bed is comfy and we have our travel door alarm so what the hell! Not that we feel unsafe just I always take precautions!
We are staying right on the river front down the road from museum S21 and the royal palace so we are quite central with plenty of bars and restaurants everywhere! Some are a little out of our price range to say the least. But we miraculously found an Irish bar... So we settled there and are some grub! They have jacket potato and tuna mayo - result!! Can't wait to sink my teeth into that Bugga!
Early night tonight to get a fresh start for our history lesson tomorrow!
